Combined Breast Lift & Augmentation

Over time, many women often lose the youthful shape, volume and firmness of their breasts as a result of pregnancy, breast-feeding, weight fluctuations, aging and gravity. Therefore, they begin to express anxiety and a loss of self-confidence due to the sagging appearance of their breasts. A breast augmentation combined with a lift can reverse these effects, improve their self-image and enhance their shape by lifting the breasts and increasing breast fullness.

A breast lift, also called mastopexy, raises and firms the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue while a breast augmentation enhances the size and symmetry through the placement of implants. In many cases, these surgical procedures are combined with other procedures, such as a tummy tuck, often in combination referred to as a "mommy makeover," which are used to rejuvenate the entire body and provide a more youthful, balanced figure.

More often, when the need for augmentation mastopexy exists, some patients are misguided to believe that a larger implant size will eliminate the need for further breast lift, or minimize the amount of incisions needed. However, this is often lacking in evidence as very large breast implants, usually over the course of a short period, will result in a reoccurrence of droopiness, or ptosis, and therefore can be very counterproductive in the long-term. A well-experienced board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, such as Dr. Daniel Golshani, will utilize their experience to choose the right size while minimizing the potential effects that an implant can have in recreating droopiness or ptosis. Several techniques exist for mastopexy, which utilize both superficial and deep planes of lifting. Dr. Golshani uses these techniques to create aesthetically pleasing and symmetric results for patients who present the need for augmentation mastopexy.

Where do I begin?

Because a breast augmentation combined with a lift can be a highly individualized surgical procedure, Dr. Daniel Golshani takes into account the unique needs of each patient to determine which technique, incision pattern and breast implant is most suited for your case. During your initial consultation, your breast size and shape, body type, the size and position of the areola, the degree of breast sagging, and skin quality will be evaluated, and all of your questions and concerns will be addressed. Risks, potential complications and alternative methods of management will also be discussed, followed by a review of many before and after photographs as needed.
