Forehead Lift

Patients who express an interest in having a brow lift feel that, overtime, their eyebrows look droopy thereby making them look sad or depressed. Such droopiness or sagging usually occurs in conjunction with other signs of facial aging. Many patients, therefore, choose to have a brow lift in conjunction with upper and/or lower eyelid surgery to achieve optimal results.

A brow lift can tighten loose skin, remove excess forehead wrinkles and correct drooping eyelids. The best results are evident when patients' eyebrows are elevated to a natural level.

As with any other surgical procedure, a brow lift is individualized based on a patients' skin, muscle tone, and bone structure. All of these factors are taken into consideration by Dr. Golshani who will determine the appropriate procedure or combination of techniques that will insure that you achieve optimal results.

Where do I begin?

A consultation with Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Daniel Golshani, is the first step to learn how a brow lift can improve an aging face. Dr. Golshani's consultations are designed to fully educate potential patients. Consultations typically include a discussion of your goals, an evaluation of your current signs of aging, the options available to you for a brow lift, the likely outcomes and potential risks and complications associated with the procedure, and the course of treatment that Dr. Golshani recommends for you.

Preparing for Forehead Lift Surgery

Daniel Golshani, M.D., F.A.C.S. will carefully explain the brow lift procedure you will undergo. Prior to your procedure, you will be given specific instructions regarding diagnostic testing, day of surgery procedures, postoperative care, and follow-up information. In addition, you will be asked to sign consent forms to assure Dr. Golshani that you fully understand the procedure that you will undergo and any potential risks or complications related to your procedure.

Following Forehead Lift Surgery

A brow lift typically takes two or more hours, depending on the amount of rejuvenation and whether the procedure is performed in conjunction with others. Before being released, you and an accompanying family member, friend, or caregiver will be given specific instructions that may include:
  • How to care for the surgical sit
  • Medications to apply or take orally to facilitate the healing process and reduce the potential for infection
  • Specific concerns to look for at the surgical site or in overall health
  • When to follow up with Dr. Golshani

Progress and Healing

There is a minimal amount of discomfort following your procedure. There will be swelling and bruising that may last from seven to ten days. For some patients, this may include the cheeks and eyelids. Keeping your head elevated and applying cold compresses will help to reduce swelling. As your incisions heal, you will notice some itching and possibly some numbness. These symptoms will diminish over time. You may wear make-up after three days, and your sutures will be removed in seven to ten days. Strenuous activity is restricted for six weeks.
